I received a sweet email from another renovator (hi, Marcia!) asking if I had any paint color recommendations for gold and cream. While I love gold, I have never been bold enough to dedicate an entire room wall color to it. Don't get me wrong, I love the coziness of rooms that are painted in gold, but considering our largest home to date was 830 square feet (with 7' ceilings...), I never really had the luxury of going bold (or gold in this case). I always kept things light and airy to make the space feel larger. However, if I had a spacious farmhouse like lucky Marcia does, these would be my picks for a warm, gold paint color. I am going to do two more posts on creams (warm and cool) over the next few weeks in case anyone is interested!
SHERWIN WILLIAMS FAVORITE TAN - SW 6157
This is the darkest of the lot, but also very inviting and cozy. To me, it looks like an antique gold color. It has a touch of green in it, which I like. This would be lovely in a dining room as shown, master bedroom, or library.
SHERWIN WILLIAMS WHOLE WHEAT - SW 6121
This color is warmer, with a touch of yellowish undertones. I love how the design above is done in a somewhat monochromatic scheme; very cozy and welcoming!
BENJAMIN MOORE BARLEY GRASS - 271
The above room has a lot natural light on the paint, but I think in person, this would be a gold color with pumpkin undertones. It is rich yet bright, and makes me want a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
BENJAMIN MOORE SHAKESPHERE TAN - 228
As you can see, this is pretty darn close to Sherwin Williams Whole Wheat, but I wanted to include it for the Benjamin Moore paint lovers. :) I really like the wood and granite they paired with this color. It would be lovely in a traditional French Country kitchen!
So there are my picks. Do you have any suggestions? I would love to add your top colors to my Pinterest Board!
